In plain words
I am in God”: this you must believe. All are in God. Without God there is no world. This very thing is Transcendental Truth. This is the truth that does not change. This is ‘Sat’. But some, without thinking of God, strut about full of Ahaṅkāra. Ahaṅkāra is like a blight. Envy is like a worm at the root. The two together are destroying the tree of human life. Only when he destroys these evil qualities can man live as a man.
Ānanda is the very form of the Ātma
Our Narasiṃhamūrti said in his talk that the principle of the Ātma is divinity. The Ātma has no particular form. How is one to see what has no form? Ānanda is the very form of the Ātma. Ānanda is in all. Every man is the embodiment of Ānanda. But, sunk in the craving for material things, wealth and gold, goods and vehicles and the like, he is moving far away from Ānanda. How long will these material things last? Here is a flower. Today it is fresh. But by tomorrow it will wither. In this way all material things change. What does not change is the Ātma alone, Ānanda alone. That Ānanda is known only by experience, not understood by listening; it is not grasped when someone else tells it. You can understand it by yourself alone. How? Make the three guṇas one, and Ānanda will surely come to you. Here the three guṇas are not the sattva, rajas and tamas guṇas. As I said, one sight, one hearing, one action... Only when you experience the oneness of these three does Ānanda come. That is eternal Ānanda; that is the Ānanda of Advaita. Some sit a while in dhyāna and say, “I experienced so much Ānanda”. That is mere delusion, not true Ānanda. If that Ānanda were true, it would have to last for ever; it would have to stay one and the same in waking, dream and deep sleep; it would have to be unchanging in past, present and future.
