Passage 5

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

For God is in the person you revile, too. “Īśvarassarva bhūtānāṃ”, “Īśāvāsyamidaṃ jagat”: the One who is in all is God alone.

Embodiments of Prema! You are guessing in many ways what pleasures the coming new year will bring you and how many troubles it will cause. So many new years have passed by already. But man's conduct is still as old as ever. He wants good results, but is he doing any good deeds? He hopes others will be good to him, but is he living a good life himself? If he hopes for Ānanda and does deeds opposed to it, how will he gain Ānanda? That is impossible. Only when he does good deeds can he get a good result.

Only one with a good mind is a human being

Man today lives only for show, not for Ānanda. Show becomes the root cause of unrest. So give up show and live for Ānanda. True Ānanda is in our own heart. This whole world is full of Ānanda. To think there is sorrow in it is only your delusion, nothing else. Only your own mental disturbances bring you sorrow. ‘For human beings, the mind alone is the cause of bondage and liberation’; so you must bring about the destruction of the mind. You must turn your mind to good. Only then will you become human beings. Who is a human being? Only one who has a good mind is a human being. We must keep a good mind. We must lead a good life. We must do good deeds. We must speak good words. Only then shall we experience the right state. Nothing in this world is bad. Look with good feelings, and you will see only good everywhere. Whatever we do, that alone appears to us as a reflection. If we look at our own reflection and think it bad, what does that mean? That means the bad is in ourselves.
