In plain words
But have they recognised what greatness there is in the Name of Rāma?
Would a monkey cross the ocean? Would a fair lady tie Him to a mortar? Would the sinner Tyāgarāja attain Ānanda? My, oh, how great is Bhakti for Rāma!
Can a monkey ever cross the ocean? It became possible only through the divine power of Rāma's Name.
Three kinds of debt
Every person is born with three kinds of debt. 1. The debt to God. 2. The debt to the ṛṣis. 3. The debt to parents. To repay the debt to God, you must do good deeds. Moving in every limb as the very form of rasa, God protects the body. That is why people praise God as ‘Aṅgīrasāya namaḥ’. By day you see with your eyes, hear with your ears and experience with your mind. You see to your own safety in every way. But after you fall asleep at night, who protects your body? God alone! In waking, dream and deep sleep, God alone protects you! The Veda said, ‘Raso vai saḥ’. God, the very form of rasa, dwells in your body and protects you in every way. Should you not give thanks to so compassionate a God? To give Him thanks, you must do good deeds; you must move with right understanding; you must behave with good practices; you must take part in service to society. Only then will you have repaid the debt to God.
Second is the debt to the ṛṣis. What good did the ṛṣis do us? They composed the Vedas, the śāstras, the epics and the Purāṇas, and went on giving fine teachings so that faith in God might grow in us. When we walk the path the ṛṣis taught, we will have repaid the debt to the ṛṣis.
