Passage 6

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

What protects us is God alone, not the world. How many doctrines in the world have changed till now! How many parties have come up in politics! But what good has come to the world from them? Nothing at all. Each is filling his own belly. No one is trying to recognise Divinity. If we earn God's grace, we can be rid of any number of troubles; we can gain every kind of wealth. Between the devotee's Prema and God's grace there is a very close bond. Only by Prema can we receive God's grace. We must follow the path of Dharma, nourish the spirit of sacrifice, and enjoy Ānanda.

Once Rāmadāsu prayed in this way: ‘Lord! What am I doing for You? I have offered You nothing! Even so, why do You shower so much grace on me?’ Then Śrī Rāmacandra said, ‘My dear one! The sacrifice you make is itself the true yoga. What you are doing in your mind is known to Me, but you do not know it. Sacrifice made in the mind is understood by God alone. Others need not understand it. Nor can others understand it.’ Our sacrifice, our yoga, our Prema are understood by God alone. No one can describe the power of God as this or that; no one is able to reckon it as so much or so much. Only the heart understands it. Prema alone is the right likeness for Divinity. Once Tyāgarāja said:

Would a monkey cross the ocean? Would a fair lady tie Him to a mortar? Would Lakṣmī Devī love Him? Would Lakṣmaṇa serve Him? Would Bharata, keen of mind, look and look and bow down to Him? Oh, Rāma's power is great indeed!

Only because Hanumān kept remembering the Name of Rāma every moment could he cross the vast ocean with ease, and lift even huge mountains very easily.
