If you want to understand God, there is only one way. Love God.
God is won on the path of Prema alone
Embodiments of Prema! It is a great mistake to think of yourselves as ordinary human beings. ‘I am not a man; I am the embodiment of God’: believe this. Always keep in mind the maxim of Jñāna, ‘Ahaṃ etat na’. “This (the body) is not I. I am you, and you are I.” When we keep such oneness in view, there is no difference at all for us. Suppose a man who hates you comes upon you on the road. If you start abusing him, he too will abuse you. A battle breaks out between the two of you, right there on the road. Give up hatred and, with love: ‘Hello friend! How are you?’: greet him like that. At once the hatred in him vanishes altogether. With love you can turn even an enemy into a friend. So give no room at all to hatred. Give no chance to envy. Regard God as your true friend. God can be won by Prema alone. By no other kind of path will He be held. On the path of Prema alone can God be held; He can protect you in every way.
In this new year, developing new and holy feelings, thinking of God, with the faith that God Himself will give you every comfort, and with Prema, go on living your life. You will surely enjoy happiness and Śānti. Wish that not only you and your relatives and friends, but the whole world, be happy. Work for the good of the world. Only then will you find true Śānti. If you do good to others, good alone will always come to you too; no harm will be done to you.
