In plain words
Every human being comes wearing a necklace strung of the good and bad he has done. No one can come without that garland. But he forgets this and longs for the pleasures and riches of the world. How long can they last? ‘Take no pride in riches, kin or youth: in the blink of an eye Time snatches all away.’ So we must lay up the wealth that is God's grace, divine and glorious. Having taught in this way, that supreme devotee stepped out of the Viśveśvara temple.
The best prayer is one filled with selfless Prema
As he was walking away, the golden plate too went along with him. Along with the plate many coins set out as well. At once all the beggars went after him. Then the devotee: ‘My dear ones! What use is it asking me? God alone is the protector of all, richer than anyone. So pray to Him,’ he taught them. Then all the coins fell out of the plate to the ground. Each person received them according to his own portion. Seeing the sight, he closed his eyes in joy. Viśveśvara appeared before him. ‘Lord! Viśveśvara! You are the Lord of the whole universe: can You not protect these poor ones? Look after them with compassion,’ he prayed. To ask, with selfless Prema, that all be protected is the highest prayer.
