In plain words
God was greatly pleased with his sacred prayer. Whoever prays, the prayer must be selfless. Selfless prayer alone touches the heart of God. However much you pray with worldly things as your aim, it is of no use.
We must offer our heart to God
Of the nine paths of Bhakti, ātmanivedana is the very last. That alone is the true offering. If, without doing that, you offer worldly things, vehicles and the like, they do not reach God at all.
O Lord, whatever heart You gave me, that same heart I offer back to You, O glorious One; what else could I fittingly bring for Your worship? I join my palms: do accept it!
Whatever heart God gave you, that same heart you must offer back to God. What you have earned and hoarded God will not accept at all. What does God want with what you have hoarded? Does God lack anything? He is the form of Viṣṇu. When the goddess Lakṣmī dwells on His very breast, what is the money you give worth! When Lakṣmī dwells on the very breast of Hari, who rides the bird, what need has He to go begging? So you must give your heart to God. But today no one is ready to give back to God the heart that God gave. They give what they have hoarded. That is something worthless and petty. God does not want such a thing. You must offer your heart. That itself has been called ‘anāhata Dharma’. That is what we must give in charity. This alone is what we must nurture and lay up!
Under the influence of this Kali age, Bhakti, Jñāna and Vairāgya are all being carried on for show.
