In plain words
In this way people imagine many kinds of names and forms for God. But all these are only outer forms! The principle that is the root and ground of everything is in you yourselves. Everywhere you see only reflections of that root principle. Seeing these ‘reflection’, ‘reaction’ and ‘resound’, you mistake them for ‘reality’. Your own delusions are deceiving you. You are deceiving yourselves; you are betraying yourselves. Your own feelings cause all these many kinds of change. Your own ‘doubts’ appear to you as reflections. Where do these ‘doubts’ come from? You made them up yourselves! First of all you must make your faith grow. If, without faith, you harbour ‘doubts’ about everything, you can achieve nothing. God moves in your house, at your heels, at your side and in your eye. In truth, you yourselves are embodiments of God. You must take as your support the divinity that is in all beings in the form of a seed.
On a tree, many fruits have grown on every branch. In each and every fruit a seed lies hidden. If what you planted was a single seed, where did so many seeds come from? As many fruits as grew, so many seeds were formed. In the same way, the One whose form is the Ātma dwells as a seed in every being. But you make no effort to see the seed. You eat the fruit. You drink the sweet juice in it. The seed alone you throw away. This is the great fault in you. Taking up what passes, you forget the Ātma principle, which is eternal and true. ‘I do not need this,’ you think. But everything rests on the Ātma principle alone.
Regard faith as your very breath
The Paramātma, the embodiment of Prema, can be recognised only through Prema. There is no need to search, saying here, there. There is no distinction of night and day. Wherever you look, He is within reach; He is yours.
