Passage 6

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

That is the root principle. From it alone all names and forms come forth.

In every human being divinity goes on shining. Look, many bulbs are burning here. Current flows in every bulb. Without current the bulbs cannot light up. In the same way, in every human being there is a kind of radiance. That radiance itself is divinity. You must try to see that radiance. A blind man cannot see light. Nor does light appear to one who has shut his eyes. But to one who has opened his eyes, light is seen everywhere. In the same way, to one whose eye of Jñāna has opened, God is seen wherever he looks. “Sarvataḥ pāṇipādaṃ tat sarvato'kṣiśiromukham...” Everything lies in your own vision. There is nothing in the world that is not divinity. The food you eat, the sights you see, the games you play, the songs you sing... All of them are forms of God! How is a bird born from an egg? How does fragrance come out of a flower? How does a tree bear fruit? Divinity alone is the basis of all these. Divinity pervades everything. But some keep arguing that there is no divinity. That is a great mistake. There is no ground of any kind for saying there is no divinity.

The body is a temple; the jīva is God

Where did the sight in your eyes come from? That is divinity. Where did your tongue's power to taste come from? That is divinity. Even the words that come from your mouth come forth from divinity. “Brahman as sound, all that moves and is still, light, speech, eternal Ānanda, the highest beyond the high, Māyā, auspicious splendour.” God is the embodiment of the eight kinds of wealth. These eight kinds of wealth are seen all over the world. One may be a madman, another a good man. One may be a ‘scientist’, another a ‘saint’. But the divinity in all is one and the same. The scientist says that wherever you look there is the ‘atom’.
