Passage 5

In plain words

Not Swami alone: he looks after others too with the same care. When one of our college students had a motorcycle accident, he came to Puttaparthi many times, taking no rest day or night, and treated that patient. If there were doctors like Sundaresh everywhere in the world, there would be no diseases at all. Doctors today, out of selfishness, are scrambling after money. That is just why diseases are increasing day by day.

Another small matter. It is nine years now since this happened. One day, after washing My hair, I put on a Hair dryer. A doctor had sent it from America. When I put it on, there was no current. ‘Why, this is not working!’ I thought, and as I held it close and looked at it, the current came on. At once the hot air struck, and the pupil of My eye was burnt. Well, if it is gone, it is gone; I contented Myself that I could see as much as I wished with one eye. Does one need many eyes to see this world? There is no need. One single eye is enough. ‘Sahasraśīrṣā puruṣaḥ sahasrākṣaḥ sahasrapāt.’ (God is the One who has thousands of heads and thousands of eyes.) So I thought one eye was enough for this body. The other day, when the hip broke and I was admitted to hospital, Dr. Hemanth Murthy came and performed an eye operation as well. Since then I have been able to see with both eyes. Eye doctors like Hemanth Murthy and bone doctors like Sundaresh are very rare in the world. We must foster such doctors today. Because the government does not provide proper facilities, doctors face many difficulties. However great doctors may be, proper instruments too are vital for them. We celebrate this day as Doctors' Day precisely with the aim of lending such doctors every helping hand we can and giving them fitting encouragement. This whole world rests precisely on health and education.
