In plain words
Because He moves in all men with the feeling ‘I, I’, He has the name Vāsta. This word ‘I’ pervades everything. So they gave it the name ‘I’. God's names were all given by people; He did not come having named Himself. Padmanābha because He is the one who came from the lotus, Hiraṇyagarbha, and many more names besides arise from just such reasons. Spirituality arose to teach the right meaning of these words and to spread and teach it. Teaching these divine ideas and inner meanings, and living by them Himself, He taught spirituality to this world so as to give it fitting ideals. They do not rightly understand this sacred path called spirituality. They believe that spirituality means just doing some worship of God, saying prayers and taking part in God's work, and there they rest. This sacred spiritual principle must teach the world through forms and names and make known the fitting inner meaning.
In 1968 the World Conference was held in Bombay. There and then they laid the foundations of a building with the noble name Dharmakṣetra. Indulal Shah was the root cause of the building of Dharmakṣetra. Indulal Shah, the prime mover of this Dharmakṣetra, spread it in many ways and has kept teaching it to the world. Standing beside him in this, Saraladevi vowed herself to the Bal Vikas groups, the Mahila Vibhag and the like, fitting for it, to teach the sacred nature of women. In this way the two together have spread this Sai movement so far across the world. Even now, though they are advanced in years, they have kept it going with great effort. Understanding the principle of God is not possible for everyone. God is a sculptor without tools, one who holds a brush without paint; this world is the very world He painted on a wall with no support. We must keep teaching the world this principle, which has neither support nor anything supported. We must strive to recognise this truth and act on it. Taking spirituality to mean just doing some worship and keeping some vows, only that much, we must not waste our time. Every man must recognise the truth that he is a part of God, and act on it. This very thing is in the Bhagavad Gītā: ‘A part of Me, in the world of the living, has become the eternal jīva; all this is Vāsudeva.’ Such a truth we are forgetting. So we must bring this forgotten truth back to life and keep proclaiming it to the world. We have built many holy places. But every holy place has a history of its own. This history is not without a fitting basis. How much toil Indulal Shah went through at the time of building Dharmakṣetra, Swami knows. Travelling there where there was no road at all, going about through the thorn bushes, he kept showing Me too which spot would be good. To the Dharmakṣetra that now stands built, there was then no road of any kind. Walking a long way, getting past thorns, getting past thorn bushes, he toiled hard. This is the Mahākālī Company road. In such a place he toiled and laboured and did it. With the help of many people he somehow completed it. Even to do any small task is not possible without everyone's help. At the start one meets nothing but obstacles. When the gods and the demons were churning the ocean, nothing but poison came up. But, not afraid at all that poison had appeared, they took a firm hold again and kept at that very task. Only then did all these come forth: what is full of nectar, what is full of Ānanda. Our heart itself is the ocean of milk. Our determination is its churning rod. Our sādhana is the churning. In such sādhana, at the very start, some obstacles come up. But, not afraid of these hardships and losses, we must hold firm to achieve it.
