In plain words
That which does not change is the Ātma principle itself. In it there is no change whatever. No putting together. We keep saying, ‘I love him very much.’ What have you come to know about him? Do you love on seeing the form? Do you love on seeing the behaviour? Do you love on seeing the beauty? On seeing what do you love? On seeing what do you not love. All these happen and pass for a time. There is something called Prema. That Prema itself is God. That is why God is the embodiment of Prema. Love for the sake of Prema. Without Prema there is no life. A small example of this. A mother had a son of twenty years. After a time the son died. The mother was alone. The mother says, ‘I live only because you are there. If you are not there, how am I to live?’ So where is the ‘I’? These are mere imaginings, not truths. Prema itself is the chief thing. Prema has not just one form. Only one who has loved this Prema can attain Prema. One who loves only the body loves only as long as the body lasts. After that he loves nothing. So love Prema. This Prema itself is life. Life itself is God. That is the Ātma. The Ātma principle alone is true.
Embodiments of Prema! Through Prema alone must you attain Prema.
So that in lands empty of Prema the shoots of Prema may grow, so that, in the rapture of Prema, rivers of Prema may flow, do sing! Kṛṣṇa! do sing!
Rivers of Prema must flow. There must be seeds of Prema. If we understand the one principle of Prema, that is enough. This Prema itself is everything. Regarding Prema itself as everything, make Prema itself your basis. Do not put some object into this Prema and worship it. If you set up physical objects, everything becomes empty. If you go on loving Prema alone, Prema will remain lasting for ever. So we must go on loving Prema. We must love Prema itself, not the body joined to Prema. All forms are impermanent, not lasting. We must not love what is not lasting and untrue. That is physical love. That which loves Prema alone is lasting Prema. Through such Prema we must attain divinity.
Students! Your Ātma principle itself is your form. It takes on any number of forms. So you must not regard God as a form. Rāma, Kṛṣṇa, Govinda: these are names given, not names one is born with. These given names bear no fruit. But we must settle on some one Name. Studying all the studies is necessary. Recognising the essence in the studies is true enough. How far does it become true? It becomes true as far as it is lived. After it has been lived, that truth too vanishes. So do not make form your basis. Prema itself is God. Prema has no form. Go on increasing that Prema. For this, if you inquire into Satya, you will understand it easily. There is One who is called God. Without God, this Prakṛti itself would not be. From Prakṛti, Paramātma itself is coming. From Paramātma itself the supreme principle arises. That supreme principle itself is the true Ātma principle. In the same way, keep loving the supreme principle. Do not go on praying, taking this Prema as a form. Form, all of it, keeps changing. Whenever a chance comes, I will tell you the principle of Prema. Only when children understand this principle of Prema thoroughly will they give no room to despair. Children keep falling, all the time, into the way of hope and despair alone. Prema has only a name, no form. You may give that name any form.
