In plain words
Embodiments of Prema! If you want to attain God, one path alone is enough. That is Prema itself. That is Satya itself. Hold fast to that Satya and go on. Hold fast to that Prema and go on. Do not give a form to what is called ‘I’. A small example. It appeared in the paper yesterday. Jānakirāmayya passed away the day before yesterday. There are many who loved him. They are all putting it in the paper every day. ‘Janakirāmayya! You have left us and gone. Be born again. Then we will love you.’ Must he be born again for their love? Is this what we should ask for? Being born and dying: deception comes about in these two themselves. Birth and death, both are untrue. When there is birth, death comes. Birth and death belong to the body, not to the Ātma. So we must love the Ātma principle, not the body that has birth and death. Bangāru. I keep calling you Bangāru. What is the inner meaning in saying Bangāru? Gold is acquired. Gold never goes away. You can melt gold. You can turn it into ornaments. But it is not possible to change the gold. So you may keep changing into any number of forms made of gold. But hold on to the gold alone. It never changes. We must desire what does not change. If you desire the changing form, you end in deception. So, comparing you with what does not change, I keep calling you Bangāru. You are not one who dies, nor one who is born again. Gold is always gold itself. It is lasting indeed. It is true indeed. We must desire what is true and eternal, but, desiring what is not true and eternal, we are falling into deception. So Śaṅkara said,
Again birth, again death, again lying in a mother's womb; in this saṃsāra, so hard to cross, in Your compassion take me to the far shore, protect me, O Murāri! Worship Govinda, worship Govinda, worship Govinda, O foolish mind!
Worship Govinda. So we must keep seeking what has no death and birth. Why should one seek birth again? We must seek what has no birth.
Embodiments of Prema! The Prema in you is neither born nor dies. Love that Prema. That Prema is always right behind you, beside you, in your very home. That very Prema you must love. If you love such a thing, you will remain embodiments of Prema however long it may be. In truth, believe only in this Prema. Do not believe in worldly love. Believing and believing, you are deceived a great deal. All this love is passing clouds. Clouds come and go. There is not one cloud that lasts. So love the Prema that lasts. That is the Ātma. Love the Ātma. Study your studies. Recognise the meaning in what you study. Put the meaning you have recognised into the practical. Experience what you have put into the practical. Delight in what you have experienced. Other than that, you must not love everything and fall into despair. Prema alone is lasting. Love this lasting Prema. Do not give this Prema a form and so give room to despair. Many children are falling into despair in that way. In the end they cannot love anything. What you have loved, you must go on loving without letting go of it at all. That itself goes on growing and growing.
