In plain words
They can say, ‘This is Brahman,’ but they cannot say, ‘It is not this’; be sure of that. What is, for all time, is God alone; the world has become what is not: behold this, dear sir.
Embodiments of Prema! Today everyone is swept up with excitement that the New Year has begun. They rejoice that it has begun on a Thursday. But to keep a festival on this one day alone is sheer folly. For true devotees, every day is a festival. You must regard every minute and every day as the auspicious beginning of a new year, and develop new and sacred feelings. You should not waste your time worrying over what has gone by and over the future. All that is seen in this world is impermanent and passing. Past is past. What has gone by will not come back, however much we pray. The future lies hidden in the womb of time. It cannot be seen. So the present alone is what counts. To ignore the present and worry about the past and the future can only be called great Ajñāna. So you must enter into service and make the present fruitful. There is no sādhana higher than service. Above japa, tapas, bhajan and every such sādhana, service is the chief. Only the fruit that comes from service is eternal Satya. God gave you the body only to help others, not simply to eat and drink and waste your time. Every limb of our body has been given for karmopāsana. Karmopāsana alone makes a man's life blessed. God gave us hands not to carry morsels to the mouth; the hands were given only to do service.
