Passage 11

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Giving up every comfort, you have come, sat under the trees, and are remembering the Divine. True devotees need no comforts, need no pleasures. Such devotees alone experience oneness with the principle of Swami. So, wherever you go, you must keep your mind under your control. You must not turn the mind toward physical pleasures.

(After having the devotees chant the pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaśśivāya...” for a while, Swami went on with His divine discourse...)

With the voice turned outward, ‘Om Namaśśivāya’; softly, ‘Om Namaśśivāya’; without sound, ‘Om Namaśśivāya’. What is said outwardly goes out to the world. What is spoken softly stays within the mouth. The contemplation made in the mind, without sound, spreads everywhere. Only the contemplation made with the mind is eternal Satya. That is the royal road!
