In plain words

I behaved that way out of Ahaṅkāra, thinking I was a man of great learning. Please forgive me,” he asked. Vidyāsāgar's name and fame grew day by day. He went on doing a great deal of good to people. He had poor students taught. Seeing the works of service her son was doing, his mother rejoiced greatly. She prayed to God with all her heart that such good sons might be born to every mother.

As the very seed of that day has become a great tree today

In just the same way, Sathya Sai, having houses built for the poor in Puttaparthi, having a school built for their children's education, ending the village's shortage of water... in this way He has gone on seeing to many kinds of service. The things Mother Easwaramma said in those days were only very small sentences! Those very sentences have grown today into a great history. Seeing the good Swami had done for the people of Puttaparthi, the mother was overjoyed. “Swami! You have had houses built for the poor. You have ended the village's shortage of water. You have granted light to people living in darkness. More than that, you have had a school and hospitals built too, and fulfilled all my wishes,” she used to say. Though the wishes she asked for were very small, they took shape as vast service projects that bear endless fruit.

Sons who follow their mother's words are urgently needed today. Great mansions of joy are built on the foundations of a mother's good counsel alone. The wishes Easwaramma asked for in those days were very small indeed! She asked for water for the village of Puttaparthi. Today Swami has brought water to the whole district. In those days she asked Him to have a small school built. Today Sathya Sai has had great educational institutions and buildings raised. In those days, seeing the village people suffer so much for want of proper medical care, Easwaramma asked Him to have a small hospital built. Today Swami has had great hospitals and super-speciality hospitals built. In this way the small wishes the mother asked for in those days are what have brought great results today.

Embodiments of Prema! You need not seek refuge in anyone. Take part in deeds that satisfy your mother's heart. If you satisfy your mother's heart, that is enough. In that itself lies a very great reward.
