In plain words
Humanness came into being to experience divinity, not to seek worldly happiness. We must not think that God gave this body only to feed the stomach.
In the human state the nature of the body is divine, truly wonderful. With so wonderful a body there are many duties that man must perform. But he is giving up doing them. To enjoy full Ānanda in body and in mind, we must perform a great many actions. Why, after all, has this sacred human birth come? It has come to make life worthwhile. What is this body like? “A hovel of filth. A servant's basket wasting away with diseases. A tuber stirring since its birth..” We should not let our attachment to such a body grow. We did not come for its sake.
We have come to turn humanness into divinity through this body. Our inner being keeps teaching us this Satya without ceasing. Only when it experiences divinity does humanness find its fulfilment. There are many who use the body for the sake of such fulfilment. But those who recognise Satya are very few. However many actions we perform, we must set peace of mind before us as our goal. On a day when there is no peace of mind, whatever we may do, all of it brings only unrest. Not the least Śānti is to be had.
I am ready to help you
Embodiments of Prema! That all of you have come here, going through so many hardships and not counting even your money troubles, is truly your good fortune. Swami has not forgotten the Satya that you came here to gain this Ānanda. Right up to last night many were grieving, ‘Swami has not spoken even one word to us.’ In answer to those very prayers, this morning at daybreak I made ready to speak with you. Yet I am not satisfying you with words alone. I am ready to help you in every way to fulfil the wishes of your hearts.
