Passage 3

In plain words

How do the rivers come? They do not come grudgingly, or under force. They flow on laughing merrily, with great joy. All this happens in order to give joy to people. Who can stand in its way? The five elements all go on fulfilling their several duties themselves, in due order, only as the Paramātma commands. They work holding to God's command itself; they are not things that work by a power of their own. But naive people cannot recognise this Satya. Not only that. As the branches of a tree sway this way and that in the wind and rub against one another, fire is born in them and blazes up. Fire is in the wood, yet it does not burn the wood to ashes. To this day no one has found out this secret.

When you strike one stone against another, fire springs from it. But can we see the fire that is in the stone? No; it stays hidden. There are a great many such secrets in the world. Scientists keep on doing much research to discover these secrets. To discover these secrets, some have gone on searching for God. But there is no need to search for God. There is no spot where God is absent. Without trying to recognise the God who is everywhere, man thinks he was born merely to fill his belly. The very moment a baby is born, it cries. No one has found out the secret of this even today. When you put a little honey, or milk, on its tongue, it falls happily asleep. In this way, from the time he is born, man keeps striving anxiously to satisfy his hunger.

Going through troubles to fill a belly a span wide, a crore of arts learning with great effort, yet unable to gain full happiness, why should this human race wither away in sorrow? The glorious Lord, Highest of the high: will He not show the way to the devotees who meditate on Him, O man?
