In plain words
In truth there is no rule at all that women must not chant Vedic mantras. When the chanting of Vedic mantras goes on here, the learning that is within them comes out. Look, all of you. Where did these little children learn the Veda? They hear the older children chanting, and they chant. But some sit right beside those who chant the Veda. Yet they do not learn those mantras even a little. I keep watching. Highly educated people sit beside those who chant the Veda. What use is it just to sit there? When the students recite the mantras, they listen. But they themselves do not chant. Then there are some who recite the Vedic mantras merely mechanically. But they do not listen properly. Only when these two become one does true realisation come. Every human being must keep reciting what he has learnt of the Veda. The Veda itself is the form of God. Today we take into our minds everything that is unnecessary, but we let go of the Vedas, which are necessary and as precious as life itself. Every human being must learn the Veda! He must recite it, and he must keep it in mind! For those who do not recite it, there is no use in learning it. Even if they recite it here, some drop it the moment they go outside. We must not become traitors to learning in this way. Traitors to learning are themselves traitors to God. Through this treason against God they are drifting far from what they could attain. What every human being must know is this: ‘All that is seen in creation is nothing but the power of God's will.’
Every human being must learn the Veda
Embodiments of Prema! Children may make mistakes without knowing. But if they err once, they must not err a second time. From tomorrow on you must recite the Vedic mantras that you heard and learnt today. Only when all recite with one voice does the principle of Brahman come into view. To know the principle of Brahman in this way: that is the very meaning of the mantra ‘Vedāham etaṃ puruṣaṃ mahāntam ādityavarṇaṃ tamasaḥ parastāt...’.
