In plain words
But I have no pains whatsoever. To this day I have never once known what is called Body pain (ache).
Thus, if we give up attachment to the body completely, we can achieve anything. Whatever I say, that is exactly what I do. We must do just what we say, and say just what we do. “In the great, mind, word and deed are one”: that is true humanness. The doctors told Me, “You must not stand for long.” But I can stand for as long as need be. Now too, I have been standing for a long while. I have no aches at all. I do not take even a single pill. I do not wear even a single bandage. Mine is nothing but the one feeling of the Ātma. Only to teach you attachment to the Ātma do I do all this and show it to you. Follow this ideal. Give up attachment to the body.
“For all the pains He goes through, Swami has not gone down one bit!” many people marvel. Women especially notice this closely. I have not gone down, nor gone up. Even now I can walk at speed. But it is because of these doctors' fears that I do not walk that way. “Swami! Do not walk fast. Keep any two of the boys to help You,” the doctors urged, and so, to satisfy them, I have kept two boys. Even to those two I give no trouble at all. Arun and Prusty, these two go to the office, and afterwards they come and wait at My door. Both of them too render Me very great service.
Engage your body in the service of God. What did God give the body for? Only so that it may be offered in the service of God! “O mind, do not trust that the body is lasting any more! Take refuge at the feet of Hari!” You, take refuge at Hari's feet. However many troubles come, pay them no heed. Render the country whatever service you can. Make use of every small chance to serve. Even helping an old woman you see on the road is itself a kind of service. Do not think, “What do I gain by helping her?” Even in such small service there is a great reward. So keep on doing service. There is no sādhana whatever higher than service.
