Passage 4

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Even though no one makes any effort whatever, God's works go on happening of their own accord. All that happens here is God's work alone; there is no other work. In any matter at all, we have not even the doubt, “Will this come about or not?” Whatever is wanted cannot fail to happen. Until now nothing has ever gone amiss. By Swami's resolve every work is being accomplished. All we want is the devotees' happiness! Since you have come here, it is enough if you make good use of this chance and spend your lives in safety and happiness. You need not give Me anything. Whatever you ask for, that I go on giving. But you must also see whether you need it or not.

There is no task that cannot be achieved through prayer to God

Through prayer to God you can achieve any deed, however great. So whatever you want, pray to God. Pray silently; do not pray holding desires in your mind, ‘I want this, I want that’. Pray to God with Prema, without desires. “Swami! We are praying to God so much. Yet none of our affairs are getting done!” you may say. That is only a fault in your prayer, not a fault in God. If you pray from the heart, it cannot fail to bear fruit. If you would discover the principle of God, that is possible only through Prema. Without Prema nothing happens. Through Prema every work is accomplished. There is not a single task that does not come about through prayer to God. God's resolve cannot be turned back.

God is in your very heart

Today is the holy festival of Christmas. Do not misuse it through desires. Jesus is the child of God. When He was being put to torment on the cross, He prayed, “Father! Do whatever is pleasing to You.” With such a feeling of offering, carry out the actions that are your duty. Without Ahaṅkāra or show, pray serenely. Your prayer will surely bear fruit; if it does not, ask Me. God is in your very heart. There is no place at all without God; there is no deed at all He cannot do. He does not think in the least, ‘This one is small, that one is great.’ All are His own children. So whatever they need, He gives.
