In plain words
‘Son! What a fine nature you have! Your goodness itself will protect you,’ he said, and went away.
I Myself have given Myself to you
When I joined the school at Uravakonda, the teachers there: ‘Satyam writes poetry well. We must make good use of Satyam,’ they thought. They would have Me write many songs. I had no college life. I studied only in that small school. After that My work of spreading the teaching grew day by day.
Afraid that I would leave Puttaparthi, Gṛham Ammāyi and Gṛham Abbāyi held My hand and wept. “We cannot live without you. Wherever you go, we will come there,” they said. In this way, from childhood I have drunk in the love of everyone. Everyone looked on Me with love. Above all, I am telling you all this today so that you may know of Karaṇam Subbamma's Bhakti and surrender. She belonged to the Brahmin caste. She would let no one inside. Me, though, she cared for as her own child. Because of this the Brahmins of the village kept reviling her. “I need no one. If I have Baba alone, that is enough for me. Whatever Baba says, I will do,” she would answer. Such firm faith did she have in Swami. That is why, to this day, Subbamma's name has stayed for ever in the hearts of devotees. In her name I had some houses built near Gokulam in Puttaparthi and named the place ‘Karaṇam Subbamma Nagar’.
That is not all. I have a great longing to take in children who have no parents, bring them up, and teach them learning and good sense. You will have seen it: near Puttaparthi I have built houses for them and am bringing them up, teaching them learning and good sense. Those children are coming up well in every way. They were tiny children; they had not passed even the first class. Such children are now writing the tenth-class examinations and passing. They are learning Telugu and English.
