In plain words
The education we learn is not merely for filling our stomachs; we must share it with many, make them happy, and through that turn our humanness into divinity.
First of all we must learn equal-mindedness. Without equal-mindedness we cannot know divinity. In every human being divine power is packed full and dense. But man cannot reach it, lets it go, and becomes weak. Because he cannot recognise the divinity within him, he forgets even his humanness. Humanness is not merely the form. If there is the form and no practice, what is the use? Only when human values are put into practice is humanness fulfilled. It was to fulfil humanness that the Vedas, the śāstras, the Upaniṣads and the rest arose in the world. All of them are only to draw out the divinity laid away within man! That is why we have begun what is called ‘Educare’. ‘Educare’ means bringing out the divinity hidden within.
Education and Educare
Embodiments of Prema! What we must chiefly know today is divinity. At every step, at every moment, divinity is there before us. He who knows it is the true scholar. What you gain by reading books is ‘education’. The great power that brings out the values lying within us is ‘Educare’. It is not something to be had from books. The schooling of today only increases acquaintance with books. We gain nothing from this ‘information’. There must be ‘transformation’. To take in ‘information’ without it is ‘waste’. But you are developing a ‘taste’ for this ‘waste’ learning. That is not what you must do; you must practise ‘Educare’. We must put to fitting use the intelligence, the skill of mind and the strength that God has granted us.
