In plain words
In the same way, you describe divinity according to the feelings in your heart. Divinity is not only what you have filled into the vessel of your heart; there is much more still. However much anyone describes divinity, it is not enough. To ascribe difference to divinity is ignorance. Not only that. To limit divinity to one form, one name, one place is also a grave error. God has no limit. God is the One who dwells within all, the inner Ātma of all beings. Who could describe such divinity, and in what way!
Only those who have faith in the Ātma are true devotees
Embodiments of Prema! You must believe that the principle of the Ātma in everyone is one alone. You must cultivate the feeling of one Ātma. ‘Truth is one; the sages speak of it in many ways.’ God is one alone! You may give Him any number of names. Here there is water in a tumbler. The Tamil people call it ‘tanni’; the English call it ‘water’; Hindi speakers call it ‘pānī’. In this way each calls it by a different name, but the water is one, is it not! In the same way, however many names we may give, the divinity in humanness is one alone. You may think of this divinity and worship it in any number of ways. In the heart of every human being dwells one and the same Ātma. That Ātma itself is the power of God. Only those who have such faith in the Ātma are true devotees. If faith in the Ātma itself is lacking, they are not devotees at all. In fact, without faith in the Ātma we can achieve nothing. Realisation of the Ātma comes to us from faith in the Ātma alone.
Those who quarrel, ‘Your God is different, my God is different’, are fools
Today many people say they are doing ‘meditation’. What is this ‘meditation’? You must install God firmly in the heart and conduct yourself with the feeling, ‘God alone is the mainstay of our life.’ Such people alone are true devotees. Wherever you go, wherever you look, you must recognise the truth that divinity alone pervades every place, and act on it. Every single human being is an embodiment of God!
