In plain words
Call Him by any name, worship any form. But believe the truth that God is one alone. Such a feeling of one Ātma is itself true realisation. This feeling of one Ātma must arise in everyone. “Īśvaraḥ sarva bhūtānāṃ.” In you, in me, in these here, in those there, dwells the one Ātma. Those who quarrel, ‘My God is different, your God is different’, can only be called fools who know nothing. Whatever anyone may say, believe firmly in the truth that God is one alone.
Once an old woman came to Jesus. She had not seen Jesus before that. “Are you the one called Jesus?” she asked. Jesus said, “Mother! Jesus is the name given to this body. I have no special name of my own. All names are mine! By whatever name you call, I will answer.”
The names given to a body keep changing. The moment you were born, they called you ‘child’. Some time later they said ‘boy’. After that they said ‘man’. In the end they will say ‘grandfather’. This ‘child’, ‘boy’, ‘man’, ‘grandfather’: all are one and the same, are they not! In the same way, though forms and names differ, the divinity in all is one alone!
So long as you trust in God, you have no fear
Embodiments of Prema! What is the reason so many of you have come here from Sri Lanka? Nothing but your Prema for me! However great your Prema for Swami, my Prema for you is a hundred times greater. For some time now, many kinds of divisive feeling have been rising in Sri Lanka. Many calamities have befallen Laṅkā. Not from today only: disasters have kept happening ever since Rāvaṇa's time. But Sri Lanka will always remain safe and well. No one can set out to harm Laṅkā. God Himself is your country's leader. So, as long as you trust in divinity, you have no fear of any kind. Live, all of you, safe and well. Wherever you are, whatever you do, believe that God is always in your home, at your side, at your heels.
