In plain words
So man becomes blessed only when he cultivates the oneness that, whoever speaks and whatever anyone says, it is all the voice of God Himself. If you go to any elders and ask them to teach you something, they say, ‘My son! Know yourself.’ They keep asking all who come, ‘Who are you? Where have you come from?’ They ask like this, but they do not ask themselves, ‘Who am I?’ The right answer comes only to those who ask themselves that. Such are the teachings God teaches. He Himself gave this body; He Himself makes the mouth speak, He Himself makes us walk, He Himself makes us laugh, He Himself makes us weep; so we must regard everything as God's will.
Once Easwaramma came to Me and said, ‘Swami! I have a wish.’ At this point we must speak of Easwaramma's qualities. Her heart was very soft and sweet. She was always happy. Her heart was filled with Prema. And so: ‘Swami! When little children are ill, mothers carry them, weeping, to the hospital in another village. In this little village there is no one to ask, ‘Have you got a fever?’ Even if they go there, there is no one to give the right medicine. So set up a small hospital in this village,’ she would say. ‘Not now, Mother. The time for it will come. For anything at all, time, karma and duty take shape. I will build it and show you,’ I said. Then on the second day she came. ‘Swami! You too walked to Bukkapatnam and studied. In the same way, many poor children take their books and go to the towns. So build a small school, so that all these children do not go to another village,’ she said. ‘It will happen, it will happen. Stay quiet; do not worry all the time,’ I said. Some days later she came: ‘Swami! When one needs water, there is water only when water comes down the Chitravati; otherwise there is no water to drink. So have some well dug. When little children take pots and go to the Chitravati, it makes me want to weep,’ she said. Even there it does not come unless one digs. The Chitravati is not a river that flows all year. It comes when rain comes at some time or other; otherwise there is none. It depends on the rain. Man must have water all the time. Without water even the body dries up. In this way she kept asking for things. ‘Look! Your wish is very small. But I will make it big,’ I said. Even before she went away, I said, ‘I will bring about all that you have asked for. So do not worry about anything. I will have all the people of the village educated. I will give health to all of them. Do not fret about anything.’ Just as I had told her, I had a school built in Puttaparthi. ‘Alas! Poor things, only a few are going; not everyone is going!’ she said. Later I had a college built. ‘Swami! I am happy now,’ she said. That very college became a university. First I had a small hospital built on this hill. One doctor, two nurses. Sitaramayya, a devotee who was also here, was the doctor in it. I asked him to come from the East Godavari district. He was a devotee. He came to this very place and stayed. In the end I did more than she asked. Now that very one has become a super speciality hospital. I fulfilled all her small wishes in a big way and gave her contentment. One day, when I went to the Chitravati, women kept scooping and scooping, and when a little water seeped up they carried that water home. I saw it Myself. Later she too prayed. Then I had water brought from 400 miles away. That too is named Chitravati. I had water brought from there through pipes. I gave all that she asked for. She prayed not for her own sake but only to do good to others.
