Passage 5

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Some say, ‘I am the mind.’ What is the mind, after all? It has no form. It is merely a Bundle of desires. Our desires themselves take shape as the mind. All these will go away sooner or later. The mind of man today does not stay steady even for a moment. That is why people call it the ‘monkey mind’. But you belong to Mankind. “I am a human being. My mind must not be a ‘monkey mind’”: this you must remember. Daivaṃ mānuṣa rūpeṇa. God is in human form. So put away attachment to the body and believe, ‘I am God.’

You must honour the Ātma principle in every human being

You set up a stone image in a temple and offer it worship and rites. Where did that idol come from? You shaped it yourself! You worship the idol you made, but you do not worship yourself! There is no fruit in worshipping some idol or other without worshipping the God who stands before you in human form. You must honour the Ātma principle in every human being. Faith in the Ātma is true faith. Faith in idols is passing. When people go to Tirupati, they worship God in the form of Lord Veṅkaṭeśvara. They sing His praise: ‘Lord Veṅkaṭeśvara is my family deity.’ When they go to Brindavan, they worship God under the name of Kṛṣṇa. They say, ‘Kṛṣṇa is our God.’ And when they go to Ayodhyā, they say, ‘Rāma is our God.’ These names arose there according to place, time and circumstance, but in God there are no differences whatsoever. By whatever name you call Him, He answers. Rāma, Kṛṣṇa, Veṅkaṭeśvara, Sai Baba: all are one. You must not be deluded by the differences you see in form. Form is not permanent. So you must put your faith in the eternal Ātma principle.

As long as oneness is not settled, wavering cannot be escaped

Embodiments of Prema! You come here spending so much and bearing many hardships.
