In plain words
All are studying different subjects. But all must obtain the M.A. degree. What does M.A. mean? Master of Ātmavidyā. If you earn this M.A. degree, you will be able to regard all as one. All other studies are only learning to fill the stomach. Some students hope that, as soon as their studies are over, they can go to America, join some company or other and earn a lot of money. Do not fall prey to outward attractions and lose sight of the true purpose of education. Trust God fully, with one mind. Without unwavering faith, ‘bumps, jumps, bumps, jumps’ … If you go on like this, you will go mad. Desires take you far from divinity. Only when you curb desires can you understand oneness. Cultivate good qualities and lead a good life. Recognise the true purpose of education and live by it. Only then can you attain the fulfilment of having taken a human birth.
Earn the name ‘good boy’!
Students! A single light gives light to so many people. In the same way, a heart full of Prema fills the lives of so many with light. The educated must not look down on the uneducated. The truly educated look on everyone with an equal eye. Only where there is ‘unity’ will there be ‘purity’. Only where there is ‘purity’ does ‘divinity’ reveal itself. The basis of ‘unity’ is the principle of Prema. Where there is no Prema, nothing but differences is seen. Now that you have entered the Sathya Sai educational institution, your merely studying and taking degrees gives Us no joy. ‘Within and without, pervading all that, Nārāyaṇa stands.’ So you must develop both outer purity and inner purity. Only then will you be able to win a good name in society. ‘This boy is very good, a man of few words; he minds his own work; he does not meddle in matters that do not concern him; he does not interfere with anyone,’ people will say of you in high praise. So your conduct must be very good. Only then can you bring about transformation in society.
