In plain words
You must recognise the spiritual even in the physical. First of all, develop faith in God. If you have faith in God, success will come to you in everything. Place the burden on God and carry out your duty properly. That is the essence of education. Education is not acquaintance with books; it is beyond that.
Students, embodiments of Prema! First of all, you must recognise that divinity pervades everything. From God you came, and in God you live. So do all your actions so as to please God. When you follow the sacred path in this way, you will surely attain God. The world looks at the outer show. God looks at the feeling. He delights in the feeling, not in outer show. So first of all purify your inner feeling. Inquire, ‘Who am I?’
Know yourself!
Today, each and every one, ‘Who are you?’ they ask the person in front of them; but ‘Who am I?’ does anyone ask that of themselves? Only one who has found the answer to the question ‘Who am I?’ is truly educated. Without knowing who you are and what your true nature is, what use is there in knowing about others? First of all you must know yourself. Only one who recognises the oneness is a true sādhaka.
‘She is my mother’, ‘He is my father’, you say. All these relationships and family ties are formed by the mind. If in human life you take worldly relationships and ties alone to be the truth, you cannot understand the oneness. ‘I am Rāmayya,’ you say. But ‘Rāmayya’ is the name given to your body. You are not the body. ‘I am I’: that alone is the truth. Yet when you say ‘I am Rāmayya’, you must live up to the name. When you recognise your true nature, you will experience boundless Ānanda. There are many students here.
