In plain words
When the wind called desire blows, they come out into the open. At one time a man is calm; on another occasion he is seen worked up. All these arise from his own ways of eating and living and from his ties of kinship; God hands out none of it. The five senses alone are the cause of man's agitation, of his pleasure and his pain. When there is a loss he weeps; when there is a gain he laughs. He himself is the cause of his weeping or his laughter. Be it husband or wife, mother or child, no one's love in this world is a lasting love. No one has any bond with anyone. Because of the body each has taken on, there seems to be a bond for a while; but the moment a change comes over that body, everything changes. So, embodiments of Prema! In the world the one thing that is permanent is Divinity alone. For that you must strive. Humanness came into being so that one may recognise one's own true nature and attain Divinity.
‘As the feeling is, so it becomes’
We set up a photograph of God and worship it. If some gain comes to us through it, we are very happy. But if anything happens against our wishes, we change that photograph straight away. In this way we perform worship to get our wishes fulfilled, but we are not truly offering a lasting worship; there is no lasting Bhakti in us. In every circumstance we must see that we do not change our Prema and Bhakti towards God. Prema itself is the form of the Paramātma. That is why I keep saying, Love is God, live in love. Prema never leaves a human being. Someone may be a wicked man in your eyes. Even if he has Prema for no one else, it is there for his own wife and children, is it not! So if we broaden our Prema, we become able to love everyone. If we raise and feed a dog or a cat with love, they too love us. By Prema even wild beasts can be tamed. If you fill your heart with Prema, the whole world appears full of Prema. ‘As the feeling is, so it becomes.’
