In plain words
Yet you forget the Divinity that never changes and long for things that change. You may see the body today; tomorrow you may not see it. It is only something that comes and goes! In this world there is not one single thing that is permanent. Yet in the short time you are alive, you go on building up many delusions.
Divinity alone is permanent!
You cannot say that the new year began only today. Every single moment is new! What has gone by does not come back. The future, no one knows. So the present is what matters most. Today the month of Caitra has come. Next month is Vaiśākha. How many Caitras and Vaiśākhas like these have come and gone! Why should we go through so much struggle for such passing things?! The green fruit born on the tree turns ripe after a time and drops; after that it rots. The body too is just the same! Childhood, boyhood, youth, old age .... Going through so many changes in this way, it drops at the last. In this world the one thing that is permanent is Divinity alone. It is for that alone that you should pray. But then, for whom is prayer? It is for your own sake, not for God's. In truth, you are praying to your own self. God never says, ‘Pray to Me, serve Me, worship Me.’ All these are merely our own delusions. Through the delusion of the body you think of yourself as a devotee; you imagine that God is separate from you. Between God and the devotee there is no difference. Wherever you look, what is there is God alone! Whatever you do, it goes to God Himself! Wherever you go, it is God alone! In the end, even the dust is God!
The five senses alone are the cause of pleasure and pain
When the wind blows hard, the dust flies up; otherwise it lies settled below. In the same way, the delusions within us lie settled at times.
