In plain words
When any such situation arises, control yourselves. If anger comes to you, crush it down at once, saying, ‘Away! This is my enemy.’ “One's own anger is one's enemy; one's own calm is one's protection; compassion is one's kin; one's own contentment is heaven ...” Only when we fill our hearts with compassion and Prema can we see God. To one without Prema God does not appear; only a demon appears. ‘Divinity is right within me. I myself am God. This very body is the temple of God’: when we develop faith of this kind, this anger, resentment, jealousy and pomp will not trouble us in the least. So increase your compassion and your Prema, My golden ones!
At any time, in any place, however much else may change, Satya is not something that changes. ‘Whether in the forests, in the sky, in the town or in the village …’ Wherever it may be, Satya is Satya. Prema is Prema. When Prema is in you, Satya too comes and joins it. When Satya is with you, Prema too comes and joins it. All of you were born with Prema itself. But as you grow up, Prema wanes in you, and jealousy and hatred keep growing. Jealousy is a very bad thing. Through it, man not only does harm to others; he ends up doing harm to himself. So give such bad qualities no room in you, and try to nurture the principle of Prema and the speech of Satya. Only then can you experience Śānti unceasingly.
