In plain words
Alexander, conquering many lands, came invading India. After he came here he had a heart attack. Realising that his end was near, he called his ministers together. He asked them, after his death, to take his body to his own country, wrap it in cloth with only the hands placed outside, on top, and carry it in procession through every street. ‘Alexander conquered many lands; he earned great wealth. But the people must know that in the end he went with empty hands,’ he said.
We must love every person and put our faith in God
However many crores he earns, man is one who must in the end go with empty hands! So, as far as our means allow, we must give in charity and make others happy. ‘Not by action, not by offspring, not by wealth; by sacrifice alone have some attained immortality.’ We must lend a helping hand to the poor and needy. We must give the sick the help they need. We must put the wealth we earn to good use in this way. We must feel, ‘Service to society is my duty.’ One who does not serve society is truly wicked! One who takes part in social service walks the good path.
