In plain words

What are these studies! Given the right training, even an elephant does exercises; even a monkey pedals a bicycle. Even animals are able to do the work man does. Since he has taken the name ‘man’, he must rise higher than all other creatures. We must make true the saying, ‘Of all creatures, a human birth is the hardest to gain.’ Having gained this rare human birth, we must not live like beasts and birds, like worms and insects. When a son is born to you, you hand out sweets to all around. What greatness is there in a son being born?! Even a pig has ten young born to it. Does it hand out sweets?! First of all you must cast off the narrow feelings and petty thoughts within you. You must foster sacred feelings; you must offer a life that is ideal and full of joy. Only then will your human birth be blessed.

Embodiments of Prema! You must clothe yourselves in Prema alone. Whatever troubles come, you must bear them with Prema alone. Whether troubles come or losses come, you must receive them with Prema alone. Meaning to kill Mīrā, the great devotee, they mixed poison in milk and gave it to her. She took it and said, ‘An offering to Kṛṣṇa.’ Kṛṣṇa took the poison in that milk upon Himself and gave her sacred milk as prasādam. The white idol of Kṛṣṇa that she worshipped turned blue. In truth Kṛṣṇa was not born blue in colour. Had Kṛṣṇa really been born blue, they would have taken Him away there and then and put Him in an ‘exhibition’! No one is born blue. The principle of God is infinite like the sky and fathomless like the ocean. The sky and the ocean are both blue. That is why blue was ascribed to Kṛṣṇa. Foster the principle of Prema in your hearts; cast off the poison of bad qualities. (Bhagavān sang the bhajan ‘Prema mudita manase kaho Rāma Rāma Rām…’ and then, continuing His divine discourse, spoke thus:)
