In plain words
God is the embodiment of Time. That is why we praise God, saying “Salutation to Time, salutation to the Time of Time, salutation to the one who humbles the pride of Time, salutation to the ordainer of Time, salutation to the one beyond Time.” So we must not waste even a moment. You must recognise the truth of what you are. Man today, instead of trying to find out ‘Who am I?’, goes about asking others, ‘Who are you? Who are you?’ and so wastes his time. If first you come to know who you are, you will be able to know who others are. Man strives only for bodily comforts, for the satisfaction of the mind, for the pleasure of the senses, but he does not labour for the satisfaction of the Ātma. How far do these pleasures of the senses go? They are all gone in a moment! They are clouds that drift away! The heart alone is lasting. So we must labour for the heart’s satisfaction. That is possible only through good company. As the company you keep, so your qualities become. So you must keep company with elders, with the learned, and with those whose thoughts dwell on the spirit. This good company gathered here today is a great thing. When we join such good company, our heart turns holy, good resolves arise in us, we do good deeds, and we are able to receive good fruit.
As the fire, so the smoke. As the smoke, so the cloud. As the cloud, so the rain. The rain that falls today is no longer rain as it should be. Water is the very support of man’s life. The root cause of many of the diseases that come to man is polluted water! Besides this, the atmosphere around us is also a cause of it. So we must keep our surroundings clean. The water we drink must also be pure. Only then can we enjoy health and happiness. For health, happiness is what matters most. Boys! Girls! Above all, at this age you must see to it that the atmosphere around you stays pure.
