Passage 2

In plain words

The moral, the dhārmic and the spiritual: the oneness of these three is human life. Man means nothing but the reflection of God! “Mamaivāṃśo jīvaloke jīvabhūtas sanātanaḥ”: “All of you are only My own parts, not separate.” Unable to recognise this Satya of humanness, we fall prey to all sorts of misconceptions. To recognise this Satya you must pursue your studies and work hard. Once you know that ‘fundamental truth’, you need nothing more. Every worldly desire subjects you to bondage. We must become free from that bondage. As long as this bondage remains, we cannot escape falling prey to suffering. As long as the feeling ‘This is mine, mine, mine’ remains, our desire for that object does not lessen in the least. ‘Nothing at all is mine. All is God's alone’: we must recognise this Satya. All are one, be alike to everyone. The feeling ‘All are one’ must grow in you. Only then will you gain Ānanda and Śānti.

Desires are the obstacle to Śānti

Embodiments of Prema! All of you are living with many hopes. But, ‘Are we making the effort that fits our hope? Or not?’ you must ask yourselves. First of all, examine your own heart. ‘With what kind of feeling am I living in this world? Am I living merely for the sake of my cravings? Or am I spending my life steady, pure and selfless?’ you must inquire. You must keep reducing your desires little by little. Desires are like ‘luggage’ on the journey of our life. Less luggage, more comfort make travel a pleasure. Only when you reduce your desires will you find the Śānti that is fit for you. Day by day you go on increasing your cravings; you make no attempt to reduce them.

So many thousands have gathered here. Yet the Ātma in all of you is one and the same. ‘The one Ātma is the inner Ātma of all beings.’
