In plain words
If you cannot nurture the Prema that is in you, there is no gain. Keep just this one thing, love for God, steady. If you fill your heart with Prema for God, all will be well. On the day that Prema is absent, everything goes to ruin. Prema for God is like the main switch. With that ‘main switch’ put ‘on’, whatever switch you turn on, the bulb will light.
I have not the least attachment to the body
Easwaramma, the mother of this body, was always thinking of Swami. One morning in Brindavan she bathed and took her coffee; she came out on the verandah and sat down. All at once she called out three times, ‘Swami! Swami! Swami!’ I said, ‘I am coming, I am coming.’ I came down the steps and went near her. She closed her eyes peacefully. The body has value only as long as there is life in it. As soon as life goes, the body is no better than a piece of wood. I said her body should be taken to Puttaparthi at once. Many people pressed Me to go too. But I did not go. The summer classes were going on then. I sent her body and had the last rites done in Puttaparthi itself. Never have I had the least attachment to the body. In everything, attachment to the body is itself the bondage. If you offer the body to God, there will be no bondage of any kind. The senses too will stay without wavering. Once you have offered your life to God, whatever happens, nothing can shake you.
Only when you serve society is Swami filled with Ānanda
Embodiments of Prema! You must certainly study worldly and physical subjects as well! For your mother and father have set many hopes on you. You must satisfy them too. “Revere the mother as God, revere the father as God, revere the teacher as God, revere the guest as God.” You must give all of them full satisfaction. Only then will God too bestow Ānanda on you. Without Prema for God, however much you study, there is no benefit at all. At this age, study what you have to study. Earn good renown in society. This is what I hope for.
