Passage 7

In plain words

However hard anyone fights against Satya, they cannot overcome it. So hold fast to Satya. Whatever happens, you should not be afraid. For those who cling to Satya, victory is certain. So we must never let go of Satya. God is the embodiment of Satya. Truth is God. No one can shake Satya. “There is no Dharma higher than Satya.” Dharma gives Śānti. Without Śānti man cannot live. That is just why Tyāgarāja said, ‘Without Śānti there is no happiness.’ When you nurture Śānti, Prema arises and Ānanda is gained. So great is Satya. From Satya itself Ahiṃsā comes into being. One who follows Satya does not stoop to violence. In one who has Prema, the very thought of doing harm never arises. Satya, Dharma, Śānti, Prema, Ahiṃsā: these five are the five life-breaths of man. These alone are man's chief qualities. Today we must foster these human values. Only then will Śānti surely come to this country.

Keep your Prema for God steady!

Now, whoever you look at, it is desire, desire, desire! There is no limit at all to those desires. However much man has studied, he still longs to study more. He reads a great many books. But what use is study that does not give ‘self-satisfaction’! These studies serve only to earn a living. Bhāratīya culture teaches, ‘The moral, the dhārmic and the spiritual: true education is that which holds these three.’ But today's educationists are forgetting this Satya. That is precisely why, however much man today studies, no benefit at all is to be seen.

‘I have read the books; I have looked through every śāstra in full; I have learnt learning beyond compare,’ you say: why this pride? If, with your two hands joined, you cannot worship the Paramātma with Bhakti, all these present-day learnings are useless on earth, are they not, O man!
