In plain words

From Śānti comes Prema, and from Prema, Ānanda. When Prema is born, hatred is rooted out and Ahiṃsā begins. So, if we want Ahiṃsā today, we must develop Prema. Let there be Prema alone, and all become one.

“You are I, and I am you”

“In the world of the living, the living being is an eternal part of Me alone.” “All are parts of Me. You are not separate; you are My reflections! You are I, and I am you!” Forms and names may differ. But what dwells in all is the one Ātma. Each body has been given a name of its own. These names were given only to tell one from another; they do not reveal your true nature. The Ātma alone is your true nature. So love the Ātma. When you develop such Prema, all can become one. No sense of difference whatever will arise in us. The feeling of duality then does not appear. When there is no feeling of duality, all is one! A man with dual mind is half blind. We are not blind. We have two eyes. The two together see one thing. So we are all one! The brotherhood of man and the fatherhood of God: when we foster this feeling, differences, quarrels, turmoil and unrest will not be seen in this world. All human beings become one.

You say, ‘I am a human being.’ Then who is a human being? One filled with desire and anger? No, no. ‘Mānava’ means one who lives without difference. No differences of any kind should arise among us. We are all embodiments of the Ātma! We are all children of the one Father! We must not develop feelings of difference on account of form and name. Wherever we go, we must stay united. Though the five fingers are separate, the hand is one!
