Passage 6

In plain words

Live a natural life!

Students! Today science is creating monstrous distortions. Because of this, many kinds of suffering are arising. In America they are feeding meat to cattle. Their hope is that by eating meat they will give more milk. But they are getting other diseases. Many diseases are starting even in those who drink that milk. Today each country is bringing about a change of its own kind. Only the people of Bhārata are living a natural life. We must not lead an ‘artificial life’. If we lead an artificial life, all that we get will be artificial too. Notice one small thing. Today there has been a great change even in vegetables. We are people who eat a great deal of greens. Greens give a great deal of strength. But now they channel drainage water into these greens and pollute them. Today vegetables and greens have all been spoiled. Many people love brinjal curry. A poet said, “Is there a curry like the brinjal, a jewel among women like lotus-faced Sītā, a god like Śaṅkara, kings like the foe of the lord of Laṅkā!” But this does not hold for today's brinjals. They are spoiled through and through. Because this kind of ‘pollution’ is growing, the feelings within us too are becoming impure.

Students! You are very well educated. Do not defile your minds by reading trashy books. Follow our sacred culture of Bhārata. Our ancients lived this purity with great joy. In time, foreigners too will recognise the truth of the history of Bhārata's people and bring about a change in themselves. But we need not wait until then.
