Pārvatī gave them no answer at all. Pārvatī's inner nature is known to Īśvara. Īśvara's inner nature is known to Pārvatī. The two are not separate; they are one. Īśvara is the one whose form is Śiva and Śakti in one. Pārvatī is that very form of Śiva and Śakti in one. How could ordinary people understand a truth so hidden! Where there is a sense of duality, there alone does ‘doubt’ arise. A man with dual mind is half blind. But in neither of these two is there any sense of duality. Sarasvatī came: “Mother Pārvatī! Society does not accept a husband being one way and the wife another. You know all, you pervade all, you hold all power. Knowing everything, you have sunk into delusion!” she said. Then Pārvatī: “Sarasvatī! In me there is attachment to Īśvara alone. I have no attachment to anything else at all. No one can change my decision,” she said.

“Īśāvāsyam idaṃ sarvam”: the power of Īśvara pervades everywhere. To love the divinity of Īśvara is man's foremost duty. This divine power lies hidden in every person. The divinity of Īśvara is beyond age; it has nothing whatever to do with dress or speech,” said Pārvatī.

Lakṣmī too came to Pārvatī: “Mother! You are very beautiful, and you have great power and ability. For one like you to choose as husband a man who wanders from house to house begging is not right,” she said. Then Pārvatī: “My husband is no beggar; he is the giver of alms to the very world.
