In plain words

Taking Gaṅgā, who lies below, up above is very hard. “You do your work. I will see to its result,” I said. I sent the two of them, Rāmakṛṣṇa (former Vice-President of ‘Larsen and Toubro’) and Kondala Rao (former Chief Engineer of Andhra Pradesh). When they went and looked the other day, they were amazed: ‘How high the water has gone! How high the water has gone!’ It is not a thing words can tell; you understand it only when you go and see. The people who live on those hills do not live as other people do. They are not the kind who come down. Because they are afraid! They are afraid at the sight of people! “Swami! We live right on the bank of the Godāvarī. Yet to this day we have not drunk a single drop of Godāvarī water,” they said. Now people like these have laid pipes to their homes and drink the water happily. Many of them, women too, came to Prasanthi Nilayam the other day. To the devotees they met here they said, ‘How fortunate you are! Yet we too are fortunate! We too have at last reached Swami!’

In this way we brought water to many villages, so that all the people should be content. They wrote songs in their own language and danced, giving thanks to Swami. “This is water Sathya Sai has given. Not a single drop must be wasted. Let us drink this water and nourish our lives”: they wrote songs with this meaning, set them to a fine rāga, and kept singing them together and dancing. Now that their water problem is solved, the people of those villages are full of joy. They fill big vessels with water, sling them from a carrying pole and carry them away. It is a great joy just to see that sight. There is a great deal the townsfolk must learn from seeing them. So great is the joy they are living in. Yesterday Rāmakṛṣṇa and Kondala Rao came. “Swami! You must surely come. All the people there are praying hard,” they said. I said I would come. Soon I will go to Rajahmundry. But from Rajahmundry you cannot go to that region by car; you have to go on foot.
