Passage 1

In plain words

Today our MBA students are celebrating the anniversary of their Business Management department. What, after all, is ‘business’? Is it giving one thing and taking another? No. All that goes on in the world is business, nothing else! From the Prime Minister down to the labourer, every single one is doing business and nothing else! Each follows well the method that suits them. Even the five senses that man has are constantly doing business. Whatever business belongs to each organ, that organ follows to the letter. Only those who set their five senses on the proper path and enjoy them in the right way belong to the first class.

In matters of business, keep the country and the culture in view

Business done merely by reading books and papers, noting the trading methods of foreign countries and comparing the trade carried on in our Bhārata with them, is not proper business. Our Indian business must hold fast to the culture and values of Bhārata. We must not compare ourselves with foreigners at all. We must keep in view the conditions of our country. The people of other countries are making many kinds of change in order to build up their power. But we must not set out on that kind of imitation. We must learn what suits our feelings, our actions, the ways of our community and our customs. If we keep money alone in view, it serves no purpose. We must look to culture as well.
