In plain words

‘They are my parents and no one else,’ you say. In the same way, your faith in God too must be complete. Let hardship come, let loss come, let any other mishap come! In any situation at all, your faith must stay unshaken. God helps to any extent one who has such firm trust.

When Tānīṣā put him in prison, Rāmadāsu: “Lord! I offered all the money I collected to You alone, did I not?” and, saying this, he sang this song:

“For Lakṣmaṇa I had a gold waist-cord made, Rāmacandra! On that waist-cord went ten thousand varahas, Rāmacandra! For Mother Sītā I had a tamarind-leaf pendant made, Rāmacandra! On that pendant went ten thousand varahas, Rāmacandra! A jewelled crest I had made for You, finely set, Rāmacandra! Whose father's money did you take it for, that you strut about so! Rāmacandra!”

At once he repented in his mind.

“Do not be pained, ah, that I reviled You, Rāmacandra! Unable to bear these blows, ah, I reviled You, my Lord, Rāmacandra!”

“Unable to stand up to Your test, I reviled You, Lord; forgive me,” he begged. The very moment he begged forgiveness in this way, two boys (Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa) took two bundles of gold coins and went to Tānīṣā. They gave them to him and said, “Rāmadāsu sent us.” Tānīṣā, astonished, wondering where Rāmadāsu had got this money, sent for Rāmadāsu. “Where did this money come from?” he asked. “O King! This is not money I sent. Rāma Himself did this,” said Rāmadāsu. Thus, with God's grace you can do anything. So, whatever test comes, trust God and work. You will surely pass that test. Do you know how much faith the foreigners have? Many are living very happily in tiny rooms in Puttaparthi village.
