Passage 2

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Book, head, hand: we must strive for the oneness of these three. Today the world needs service. We must love all; we must serve all. This is the very thing we must do. Whatever work we do, we must regard it as service to God. Nowhere is there a place to be seen where the Paramātma is not. ‘Do not doubt that He is here and not there...’ God is in you, with you, around you, above you, below you. Whatever single thing we do, all of it happens only as God wills; it cannot happen in any other way.

We must print books that foster broad ideas

Look: this is a cloth. But it is not a cloth; it is a joining of threads. These threads are made from cotton. First is the cotton, second the thread, third the cloth. These three together are one. Likewise, you are not one single person; there are three in you: 1. the you that you think you are, 2. the you that others think you are, 3. the real you. In making a book, too, three people have a part: one writes, one prints, one reads. How many books you print is not the main thing. They must be good books. You must print books that bring broad ideas to a broad world. You must give no room to narrow ideas and foster broad ideas. You must print books that everyone needs, books that are useful. Money is not the main thing; moral values are the main thing. Money comes and goes, morality comes and grows. So we must cultivate moral values. However many books people may write, however many books you read, if you do not put into practice even one of the good things in them, they are all simply wasted. Merely naming the dishes on the plate will not fill our stomach. We must eat at least one of them. In just the same way, there are any number of books. They are writing a great many things about Swami. But are you putting even one of them into practice?
