Passage 3

In plain words

As long as the British were there, they promised the people of Madras again and again: ‘We will give water, we will give water.’ But at the very end they showed them an empty hand. Seeing the hardship the people of Madras were going through for drinking water, I gave them the water of the Kṛṣṇā. Now water reaches even every single hut. Every child too is leaping for joy, saying, ‘Sai Baba has given us nectar.’ Whether you believe it or not, I have to say it. Every month we are spending crores of rupees. Chakravarthi (the secretary of the Central Trust) knows it. To ‘distribute’ all this money is his work. Someone has to be there to do the work, after all! Swami Himself could do all the work. But some ‘help’ is needed too. For that very reason I have taken on some people as members of the Trust, and I carry out this work through those members of the Trust. I am not asking anyone for a single naya paisa. All of you know it well. If I meant to do so many works, I would have to look for money from ever so many people. But I am not looking to anyone. My will is all-powerful. We do not look for wealth; we look for virtue. If there is Prema alone, you can achieve any number of things. There is nothing greater than Prema. Prema itself is God; God Himself is Prema. Attain this Prema. Lead a life of Prema. You need not look to anyone. That Prema itself will provide you with everything. Do not feel want for anything. That Prema alone gives you all things. You must not go down a wrong path. You must not speak untruth. You must not do injustice. You must not behave with intolerance. Forbearance itself is very important. All must live together in harmony. The Veda said:

Together may He protect us both; together may He nourish us both; together may we both act with vigour; may our study be full of radiance; may we not hate each other.

Among us people of Bhārata, unity is very scarce. Everything is there. But because there is no ‘unity’, ‘purity’ is lost. Precisely because there is no ‘purity’, ‘divinity’ fails to come.
