Having gained a human birth, so hard to come by, it is a great mistake to behave like a demon. Even animals have gratitude. Even they have a discipline. But man today has no gratitude, no discipline.
Let us grow up together, in harmony....
Embodiments of Prema! Since you were born as human beings, live as human beings and make your birth worthwhile. Every human being is the very form of God! So keep not the least hatred in your heart. Live with all in harmony, in a spirit of forbearance. This is what the Veda said:
Saha nāvavatu saha nau bhunaktu sahavīryaṃ karavāvahai tejasvi nāvadhītam astu mā vidviśāvahai
What is its inner meaning?
Together let us grow up, together let us go about; together let us nourish the understanding we have come to know; together, untroubled, let us live in friendship.
Forgetting such sacred teachings that the Veda gives, growing evil feelings and entering wicked ways, man falls into sorrow. Man must live in Ānanda always. Ānanda is man's natural svabhāva. This is the year named Svabhānu. So, from now on at least, all of you, live in Ānanda. Live with Prema, in harmony. In Prema alone will you find true Ānanda.
He who is eternal Ānanda, the giver of supreme happiness, knowledge itself in form, beyond the pairs of opposites, like the sky, the goal of words such as ‘Thou art That’, one, eternal, stainless, unmoving, the onlooker of every mind, beyond all feeling, free of the three guṇas....
