In plain words
You must hold the Name of God firmly in your heart. Only then will you be blessed. Your life will be fulfilled. That itself is Bhakti for you. That itself is Śakti for you. That itself is Mukti for you. For this very purpose we have set up ‘akhaṇḍa bhajan’ once a year.
Do your own work! Keep thinking of God while you do everything
Akhaṇḍa bhajan means nāmasmaraṇa of God for a full twenty-four hours. But if, in between, you get up and go and come back ... then it is khaṇḍa bhajan after all. You must see that nāmasmaraṇa is not ‘cut’ like that in between. If you go home, do nāmasmaraṇa there too! When you sit down to a meal, do nāmasmaraṇa there too! God is not telling you to give anything up: “Do your own work! Keep thinking of Me while you do everything,” He says. That is why Kṛṣṇa said in the Bhagavad Gītā, “Mām anusmara yudhya ca.” “Arjuna! Fight, thinking of Me. That too is remembrance of Me for you. If you do what you have to do, those who are to die will die and those who are to live will live,” He said.
You must keep doing your own work. Always work smiling, smiling. Smiling face: that is what you need. Without it, if you always sit about wearing a castroil face (a weeping face), it is no use. Happiness is union with God. You may have some worries or other. Some get the worry of ‘marriage’. ‘Alas, I have this worry, I have that worry!’: do not ruin your life with worries. When you hold firmly to the feeling that whatever comes is God's will, you will be blessed indeed.
