Passage 3

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

‘Prema is God. Live in Prema.’ This is ‘educare’. Satya, Dharma, Śānti, Prema, Ahiṃsā: these are our five life-breaths. Keep Prema in your heart and follow Satya. Satya is eternal. Satya is God. Wherever you may go, whatever the time and whatever the country, Satya does not change. So, following Satya, let Prema shine forth in your heart.

Whoever you hate, it is as if you hate yourself!

When you see a person, with the eye of the world you think, ‘He is my enemy.’ No, no. He too is you! So if you hate him, you are hating yourself; if you strike him, you are striking yourself. In this world there is only one! There is no second at all. We must first of all recognise this truth and follow it. In the world today Satya is nowhere to be seen. Neither among students nor in politics is Satya to be seen at all. That is why everyone goes to the courts. But there too they go on telling untruths; they spend a great deal of money for the sake of untruth. Yet victory belongs to Satya alone! Satya needs nothing to be spent on it. Prema alone is enough. If one who hates you comes towards you, say, “Namaskāram, sir!” He too will say namaskāram to you. Whatever your feeling is, that same feeling is reflected in the other person too.

Nothing but Prema can protect us

Wherever you look in the world today, peace is nowhere to be seen. Where four people gather, there is a quarrel! A quarrel in the market! A quarrel in the bazaar! Go to a shop, and there is a quarrel! Go to a hotel, and there too there is a quarrel: “This iḍlī is not right, that dosa is not right, this vaḍa is not right!” Nothing is right, nothing is right, nothing is right! Nowhere is there a place without strife. We do not even get a chance to hear the word peace.
