In plain words
But look here: in this hall it is so very peaceful. This peace and this Prema are to be found nowhere else.
After all, why do you go to God and pray? We must pray for peace, for Ānanda, for Prema. Our children who studied in Puttaparthi and in Brindavan have travelled the whole country; they have gone abroad as well. But wherever they went, they did not have ‘peace of mind’ even for a moment. It is of no use if you search outside for peace. Peace is in you. Satya and Prema both are in you. If there is Prema alone, we can achieve everything. Prema is the great property Swami has! My duty is to give this Prema to everyone. If you take the right meaning of this Prema and use it in the proper way, you will be greatly benefited. Nothing but Prema can protect us. So everyone must come to know this principle of Prema. All are sisters and brothers! But today differences are arising even among brothers and sisters. So the principle of Prema is what we chiefly have to learn. Only then will our life become a lofty and exemplary life. You should be happy at all times; you should keep smiling, smiling; you should not put on a ‘castor-oil face’. What do we lack, after all! Everything is within us. But some people cannot bear it when difficulties come. Yet if you have a little patience, those very difficulties will surely bring you joy. Pleasure is an interval between two pains.
You are reading many books. But however many books you read, if your head itself is not right, all is meaningless! The head is most important. What purifies the head is ‘educare’. At times your very mind goes against you. Such a change is brought about by your own feeling. “Reflection, reaction, resound” ... The cause of these three is your own mind! Everything, good or bad, is within us; nothing is anywhere in the world outside.
